RE: Shorting SYQT?

>> hard to understand the logic for people who short 2, 3$ stocks. There is not much to gain and the potential loss is unlimited. <<

That's true no matter what the price is. Shorting, your maximum gain is 100% and your maximum loss is virtually unlimited.

Would you have felt more comfortable shorting SYQT in May 96 when they were around 17? It's far safer now. Let me show you why:

In May 96, SyQuest had 11 million shares. At $17, that's a market cap of $187 million. Today, SyQuest has about 80 million shares (actually more than double that when you consider the potential dilution from preferred and warrants). At $3, that's a market cap of $240 million. They're valued about 35% HIGHER than they were at that parabolic peak almost two years ago.

But are they a better company? No, they still appear to be on the brink of bankruptcy. They're taking a wild all-or-nothing gamble on SparQ, and the preliminary results are looking pretty disappointing.

See my next message for my observations on SparQ's disappointments.
