Pancho,
AVEI looks strong now. The insider selling seems to be from venture capitol and long time holders who are cashing in on the fruits of their labors rather than rats jumping off a sinking ship. Looks like normal profit taking in a stock that has done exceedingly well. Lots of stock sold in the 50's and the price hit a new high on Friday in the 80's. The momentum of the stock will crush the shorts. Just because the insiders and early investors are taking profits doesn't mean the company is in trouble or the stock price will decline anytime soon. Good luck to those of you who are shorting AVEI, I prefer to wait for weakness to show its ugly head before I put my hard earned money down.

AVEI is splitting monday and I am shorting it. Read the latest 10Q (lawsuits left and right coming soon), insiders selling like hell (click on the post I am replying to), ridiculously overpriced, pushed up by split announcement. I don't care about momentum on this one.

Finally the time to short AVEI may have come. Last fall I
studied this stock briefly and recommended against shorting, look
at thishuge insider selling! I am tempted to short without furhter
studying. I recall an astronomical PE even at the price last fall
and lots of Japan exposure:

I'm convinced! Anyone who takes your investing advice is a fool!

First BFIT then AOL and now AVEI....

1. there are only 31 million shares
2. earnings for 1998 estimate 2.71

I'm sorry, IMO your an idiot when it comes to picking stocks to short<g>
