Latest from Sludge Report: Enquirer does Starr Story.... NATIONAL ENQUIRER POPS STARR Next week's edition of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER comes out swinging and slinging at the prosecutor: KEN STARR'S SECRET LIFE. The March 10th issue [a prerelease has been obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT]is set to roll with their own investigation into Starr: He dressed like a girl, he idolized Nixon, he was a passionate supporter of the Vietnam war-- but got out of the draft because he had psoriasis. And in an exclusive ENQUIRER interview, Starr's 90-year old mom, Vannie Starr asks, "Why can't the President be satisfied with his wife?" "I am certain [Kenneth] has never even thought about being unfaithful to his wife... he has no tolerance for that kind of behavior." Mrs. Starr explains how as a child, her son "developed a terrible temper and got a lot of spankings." "The newspapers and television commentators keep saying Kenneth is trying to bring down the President," says Mrs. Starr. "That is not so. The President does unto himself!" "He dressed up as a woman and hammed it up on stage for variety shows," a Starr high school classmate tells the paper. The ENQUIRER runs with a picture of a young Starr, "wacky Kenneth" they call him, dressed up like a girl. In a media twist, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER is coincidentally represented by the WILLIAMS & CONNOLLY law firm, home to Clinton's personal lawyer David Kendall. Pause. Bill and Hillary Clinton's personal lawyer in the Whitewater mess, David Kendall, also represents the ENQUIRER? "Kendall, of course, does not advise the ENQUIRER on its stories," former White House press sec Dee Dee Myers told NBC's TODAY SHOW last week. It should also be noted that the ENQUIRER has been very aggressive on Clinton in recent months. On Lewinsky, on Markie Post jumping up and down on the Lincoln Bed, on the others. So Dee Dee's take is probably on mark. Hmm.
