Re: Microsoft and "they drive nothing"

Rod,

I agree. Microsoft does not drive anything, except perhaps that huge truck, that is laying asphalt on top the roads others have blazed, and that Concrete truck that is building the toll booths and trying to close off the exits, and that money truck, buying all the surrounding areas. Will they be successful, who knows?

Regards

Tom

80% of intelligent devices using Java is nothing but a wild guess. I am at CT Expo this week. I saw Sun's VP practicing for his speech Tue. They had a film clip with another of their many pathetic stabs at MSFT (a joke about Windows 99 GA in 2019).

Bottom line is that NT is the platform for CT applications period. There is very little market for SUN. Every major swithc maker has or is working on a TAPI service provider. Not a one has asked us for JTAPI connectivity. And we are working with a couple of the largest PBX vendors in the world. I will bet that in 2 years, TAPI 3 will be the common denominator in CT. Line card indepenence will be achieved, and internet telephony will be seamlessly integrated. In the CT arena, Microsoft is in the driver seat, and Sun is getting left behind. If NT 5.0 lives up to the scalability and reliability hype, then NT and SQL will be the platform of choice for the SCP's and AIN peripherals as well .

I will be demo-ing our new technology, but for kicks, I will take a straw poll of the vendors products to see how much Java vs how much NT-COM technology is being presented. I will bet that NT based systems (aka COM) command at least 70-80% of this years new product announcements.
