WorldCom Unit Gets $5.9M In Pacts To Provide Earth Stations

DALLAS -- IDB Systems Inc., a division of WorldCom Inc. (WCOM) received contracts totaling $5.9 million from three separate Chinese province offices to provide transportable earth stations.

The province offices are in Inner Mongolia, Hebei and Heilongjiang of China's Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.

In a press release Frida, IDB said the contracts include two transportable earth stations for each of the three provinces. This transportable equipment will be used for disaster recovery, as temporary links for telephone communications where permanent links are being installed and for digital television broadcasts from a disaster site.

IDB Systems provides engineering, design, integration and installation of satellite earth station facilities.
