Clearly, the show is about money and making/saving/investing enough to "retire" but the SJ caller was a case where I think Bob really helped someone and isn't that what it is about? Especially for Bob who probably has alot of money, but maybe not at the level where he can have a private jet take him anywhere he wants?

Regarding "retiring and not telling anyone" being a problem for companies, yes it can be a problem if the company is not structured to deal with post burnout. You really don't blame the employees, but poor management for not finding good uses for these people. Rather, the companies cry that the schools don't turn out enough $30-80K/yr graduates to do 80 hr wks whereas the more mature getting 50-100K/yr decide to only work 40 hr weeks. The truely good companies, and HP is near the top, deal with it very well. One option for the SJ CFO would be to take a 50% pay cut, take a lower level job and teach others what he knows. The others can do the 80 hr weeks while he learns windsurfing or golf (both are great sports in the Bay Area). Thus, his life has meaning and he has time to enjoy his money.
