The March, 2nd Infoworld talks about a move by Intel into middleware. It discusses a "Balanced Computing" initiative model. Sounds like Intel is actually moving away from the totally PC-centric model, as a defensive move. I guess this lends some credence to Intel being interested in NCDI, despite my earlier doubts.

Been poking around thinworld.com. They have Manufacturer Position Statements. Let's see...there's Boundless, Citrix, Neoware, Tektronix, Wyse...but no NCD. Oh, look. There's the Case Studies area. Let's see...lots of IBM...and an old FedEx article. Under Thin Client Software we find Wyseworks, Hydra, NCOS (NC Inc.), pICAsso, Lift Off (New Moon)...where's WinCenter?

How about this

ThinWorld's Tech Journals are technical articles submitted by Thin Client manufacturers. The type of articles that we are looking for include: white papers, tech tips, tech comparisons (WBT vs. NC, pICAsso vs. T.SHARE, etc.) and technical education (explaining new technologies).

Is this not a worthwhile place to pitch NCD technology?

Someone should respond to this heathen, this infidel, this, this (my thesaurus ran out of good words) ...
zdnet.com
"If nothing else, then, I hope I've helped prepare you for the unlikely chance that you'll run into an NC. You'll be able to recognize it by the fact that it does not cast a reflection, it never comes out in the daylight, and the only thing that can kill it (again) is a silver bullet. "

It is not as bad as it sounds. The author is saying the NC-Java box that was to replace the WinTel PC is dead. The WBTs will live long and prosper ...

Doug,

In today's press release, there is a reference to an "optimized implementation of the Microsoft Windows-based Terminal software".

I had wondered how WBT manufacturers might distinguish their product from the competition when the client-side OS is delivered by Microsoft. Does NCD get a license to Windows CE source code so they can optimize it? I figured CE couldn't just *automatically* run on any processor. Would this be how you also add terminal emulations to the software?

Appreciate your response.
