Good morning to you, too, Duncan!!

I actually do believe that Reagan got his idea of star wars from that old movie, and that he sincerely believed in it. I think that Reagan was a very simple (I am not saying he was stupid, I am saying he was NOT complex) person who had several core beliefs and values which affected almost everything he thought and did.

I think you can see that in how, even with Alzheimers', he still remembers being a lifeguard at that river, and saving seventy-seven lives. That is the essential, core Reagan--someone who was big and strong and did good deeds and helped people. His values and goals were framed by Edwardian American remembrances--god, country, family (although dysfunctional). I think one of the most important comments in that documentary was from his son Ron, who said he was very polite and thoughtful to everyone, but did not have even one close friend.

You would not get an argument from me, Duncan, on his having more integrity than Bill Clinton.
