Pancho, when I talked to one of the insiders at CNC, he had a marketing person with him. They told me that CNC had mostly grown in the past through acquisitions, but they are now focusing more closely on internal growth strategies. They are planning on bringing all the life operations and policies under the brand name "Conseco" --in the past you bought insurance through one of the various life companies which they had acquired. I understand Joe Theisman will be their "headliner" in upcoming advertising campaigns. They want to grow the brand awareness in their name.

They told me that the company now had 25,000 agents and 11,000 of those are actively involved in selling policies. The company has devised a new incentive plan for agents which include ten year stock options for high performing agents. Changes like these may correct a situation where growth depended strictly on acquisition.
