Hope you didn't jump ship too soon to regret the sweet deal of $30 per share. I think it will be a winning situation in the long term. But if you are willing to pay taxes on your gains I hope it will be worth it. I will be looking at where we find CPQ in 5 years.

Better to walk another day than get trampled.
But one fairly conservative strategy is to buy the common and an equal # of short term puts just below the purchase price. i.e. after this bottoms a bit, for each 100 shares you buy, buy 1 contract of very short term puts with a strike just below your purchase price. You get most of any ride up, and are insulated from any crash for the next couple of weeks for less than $2/share.
You also get to sleep well at night until the options expire.
