You see, I just don't think the infastructure is there to provide us with really good "stuff" just becase I get the final copper pairs upgraded to higher data rate short haul modems.

But I do know the solution: A MAX TNT under every manhole cover.

I don't disagree in the least. And I'm the last person to say it'll happen over night. My point is, it will happen. The Internet is bandwidth hungry and getting hungier by the minute and if there's a need, someone will find a way to meet it. I do think some underestimate the telcos --- disparage them for their slowness --- not realizing any changes have to last more than months or even a few years. They will not install one technology only to rip it out and install another. Changes like this take time and I'm expecting to see ADSL deployment begin later this year, perhaps starting with businesses, and move to wider audiences from there. My neighborhood is completely upgraded and I believe PacBel has us targetted for early '99.

This is why I'm investing in ASND, TXN, NN, and an odd assortment of others. (No pure ADSL plays right now --- but I'm working on it.)

All this before coffee.

Did you get any abalone?

Later --
