Very diplomatic, Mr. King.

Wait until you get as old and "crusty" as me--lots of "even simple" stuff will go over your head too, damnit <grin>.

Back-on-my-soapbox: There will always be "idiots", rabid journalists, vested interests, hidden agendas, etc. around every mining development--always has and always will be (up here in the Colorado Rockies--it's affectionally called "politics").

I think enlightened mining managements pick and choose their political meetings/battles carefully (see Homestake's example at McLaughlin). INCOs magagement has been very aware many of aboriginal concerns at Voisey's since Feb-1995. That's why I think it was very unfortunate (i.e., dumb too) to send Napier and Penny to Davis Inlet where "esteemed" journalists were awaiting (with "poisoned pens"?) for their every comment. Smart diplomats do not faux pas.

Enlightened management would not need "interpreters" and would never send "touchy-feely HR" folk to discuss EIS issues. If Penny or Napier had spent more than a couple days in Nain, or DI, or Goose Bay--I think Lowe's little write-up would have been much different.

BTW, dude, our federal and your provincial mining laws are very similar. DFR's and INCO's lawyers were calling (and even quoting!) me about mineral trespass during one hectic August, ha, ha.

Good Luck and Best Regards (you sneeky diplomat), T.
