Online Bill Payment for Consumers One Click Away

CORTE MADERA, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 200 major U.S. banks and utility companies will be meeting on March 4th to address the issues of Internet Billing for consumers. The meeting is being sponsored by the Online Banking Association and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Burlingame, CA. A one-day Symposium on the issue of Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) follows on March 5th. All interested parties are invited to attend the Symposium.

The ability for companies, such as utilities and those with regular monthly billing to their customers, to present bills on the Internet offers a significant new benefit to customers. With a simple mouse-click, customers can pay bills online at any time from their bank accounts. Billers and their customers save on postage and the hassle of writing and processing checks, and banks benefit through paper check reduction. The March 5th Symposium is the nation's first major meeting of banks and billers to exclusively address this topic.

Highlighted at the Symposium will be a special panel of representatives of Integrion, First Global Commerce, and MSFDC, three of the nation's leading banking consortia offering EBPP services. Other speakers represent: NationsBank, CoreStates, Bank of America, Citicorp, PG&E, Portland GE, Consumers Energy, CheckFree, Princeton TeleCom, Online Resources and Communications, Home Financial Network, Dove Associates and BancAmerica Robertson Stephens. Ed Horowitz, Executive Vice President at Citicorp, will deliver the Keynote Address.

NOTE: Press passes for the March 5th Symposium are available by calling the OBA at 415-924-1051, or by registering in-person, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 1333 Bayshore Highway, Burlingame, CA.
