Well they are cleaning up the FUD a bit, at least they mentioned not all modems have V.90 code available, but they buried it at the bottom of the article (news release).

Beginning of release:

If you bought an X2-based 56 kilobits-per-second (Kbps) modem from
3Com [NASDAQ:COMS], such as a US Robotics Sportster or Courier 56K
modem, upgrades to the new international V.90 56K modem standard are
now available online. All V.90 upgrades are backwards-compatible
to the X2 standard, 3Com said.

End of release:

Not all 3Com US Robotics modems can be upgraded to V.90 by a simple
software download. It depends on whether the modem is an internal or
external model, whether it includes voice capabilities and when it was
made. Also, some upgrades are still being developed, said another 3Com
source.

Sure sounds different in the first paragraph! Would the old USR have done this kind of press release??? I think not.

Oh...thanks Mr. Messenger! <G>
