If there ever was an example to "buy the dips," this sure looks like one to me! The news on Cabletron's problems has been concluded as being "not sector related" meaning the drop in BAY is unwarranted. I think this is also reinforced by the comeback in the stock later in the day today. actually for awhile being up a quarter or so, and ending only down about a half. "The uptrend is our friend!"

Thread, the reason why Bay has been weak Mon&Tues is probably
due to 2 analysts trimming estimates over the weekend.

I heard from one client who listened to the DLJ call, that all the analyst said was CSCO is gaining market share in every sector. eg this guy must be talking to the CSCO IRs a lot and is buying everything they are saying.
I also hear there is a gag order on Bay employees regarding discussing the qt with analysts or anyone. And they are monitoring phonecalls, and will make
an example of anyone who they catch. So in the normally leaky commentary which occurs throughout the industry, look for less or silence this qt from Bay.
No news does not mean bad news. I think House really wants to surprise the street. I know he was unhappy the stock sold off after the last quarter was reported. I asked him.
