Loki...Didn't realize that was Gardner. He doesn't like CPQ but he says buy Cabeltron Systems. Downgrades Dell just before the last run up and recommends CS. Does this guy actually get a paycheck?

Loki,
To integrate the absence of hard facts behind GArdner's utterances as well as other ghost-like data wondering through this thread, I'm going to take a wild surmise and suggest that the market in CPQ is actively moving down because of some unknown sentiment(s) out there and to incorporate these unknowns is part of the serious investor task. In order to incorporate it obviously is much "nicer" to be able to say definitely what processes are working. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of solid info; what we do have is one strong, recurring "lie" (as best we can tell) that the channel is stuffed(!) So, the market wants this to be true? It seems to be true that the market wants it to be true! So now I'm ready to accept that it is "true for the market" even if it's false in comparison to the "real" data. Now I "need" to factor this into my projection of where the market is heading. Until I see another contra-indicator that the market suddenly and mysteriously believes, I have a sense that CPQ is going to trend downward. All REAL reasons for movement have been discounted; all that's left is this collection of "unknown sentiment(s)".

Eh?
Doug
