I talked to the company also and he said they had a bid out but had heard their were problems with MS and TCI, other than that the company had not heard anything since they submitted the bid . He stated the CEO in his interview said that demand for chips was high and that the prices would eventually go up.
Also John Cassels of Dataquest predicts 5.3million disc cameras this year compared with 2.08 last year...he calls it a scorcher and says most of the sales will be in Europe and Asia. The article also mentions LSI.
I also recommended that he get the CEO to call the analyst and give them an update and ask for them to reiterate their buy recommendations. He said that was a good idea duh! We also talked about Kurlak and his weekly announcements of doom...he said the other analyst where furious...all the more reason to have them reiterate their buys I said.
I think I.m doing pretty good since up until afew weeks ago the only chip I knew anything about was LAYS....

Duane, fascinating post. With full disclosure, i.e., I am a QCOM nutcase, permit me to comment: LSI is barking up the wrong tree with GSM--they should be onto CDMA BIG TIME. Ericy is heading down Motorola's path with GSM. TDMA (GSM) will be crushed by CDMA. Not at all surprised to learn that VLSI layed off its troubles on Ericy who is prepared to go down with the ship supporting GSM installed base. Think IBM and mainframes. Would like to send your post to QCOM SI thread with your permission. Mike Doyle
