There has been an unusual amount trading on Bay by brokerage houses over the last week( Salomon and Goldman Sachs - they ususally are not buying/selling shares for themselves). From the block trades I could not tell whether they were buying or selling.(perhaps someone could educate me on how to interpret the trades - if the price is crossed and goes up on a trade does it mean a buy always?) In any case such activity portends major news in the next few weeks

Larry, Is your take on this that BAY will surprise on the upside this quarter? From House on Feb. 5: "I don't want the Street to get too optimistic about this quarter," CEO Dave House said Thursday morning in an interview in his suite at the Inter-Continental Hotel in midtown Manhattan. However, he remains "very optimistic" about the second half of the fiscal year ending in June 1998. He essentially guided analysts lower for this quarter. So a month later some estimates get dropped. The stock tanks 15%. Good buying oppurtunity. I don't see an upside surprise after a comment like that. House has stated that he wants to improve the company's previously mediocre relationship with Wall Street. You don't do that by saying one thing and doing another.
