Hi Christine:

The average public school teacher in my town makes in excess of $90,000 per year for working the equivalent of 9 months.

Then there is the job security and pensions, both generally unparalleled in private industry.

I don't deny that most teachers are good people - I have fond memories of most.

There is definitely a big problem in U.S. education, and I doubt that money has little to do with it. Seems education needs reform big time.

I wonder if anyone out there knows that the average Federal employee makes about 1/3 more than the average in private industry, yet has far greater job security and can retire with a fat pension in as little as 20 years? Used to be that lower salary was the tradeoff for security and the pension.

Seems something is wrong with that- when the governed are mere serfs for the governors.
