Kaja,

Thanks for the info.

The DVD-PC business was disappointing. Market has not taken-off, but they fully expect (like everybody else) dramatic growth in second half of calendar 1998. They expect the DVD-PC upgrade business to pick-up shortly with a Sony re-order.

Does this mean that Sony, Phillips, and NewCom haven't really started buying in gross yet? Same with the 2nd-tier OEMs? Are they waiting until the second half of the year until they start really buying in mass quantities? If so, where did the decent revenues come in this quarter?

Also, do you know if the design wins for the commercial/corporate market have started generating revenues? Like Hughes for instance, it would seem that it might take SIGM a couple of months to figure out what Hughes needs so the revenues wouldn't come out for a while, right?

Thanks,

Grant

Kaja and All,

Check out the latest S-3 on Edgar. It seems that Sigma has decided to issue another floorless convertible. I also seem to recall seeing a lawsuit by Phillips (one of our DVD-Upgrade customers) filed in the last week or two.

The floorless convertible, Phillips lawsuit, and Class Aciton claims puts too many question marks for me to continue being a shareholder. I'll check up on this company in a few months when the dilution is hopefully over.

I still like the products though. Good luck to all.

Grant

<<The DVD-PC business was disappointing. Market has not taken-off, but they fully expect (like everybody else) dramatic growth in second half of calendar 1998. They expect the DVD-PC upgrade business to pick-up shortly with a Sony re-order.>>

Sony announced a re-order using Sigma's board and new MPEG-2 chip.
Message 3816836

<<The new bundle includes the first 5X DVD-ROM drive available on the market, a REALmagic(TM) Thriller PCI MPEG2 decoder card from Sigma Designs(R), driver software, an audio cable and two DVD-ROM titles. >>

<<Another key advantage of the DVD-ROM bundle is the REALmagic DVD Hollywood III card utilizing analog overlay
technology. This PCI bus MPEG2 hardware decoding solution alleviates the PC's CPU from decompressing the MPEG2
stream, allowing the CPU to multitask while the card decodes the MPEG2 signal. This card also sends the video signal directly
to the computer's monitor, bypassing the computer's video card, which is often not capable of high-quality DVD output.

The Hollywood III card also includes both composite and S-video outputs, making it possible to connect a PC to a
television's video-in plug with an additional cable. With this feature, users are able to watch a video being played on the
DVD-ROM drive on both their computer display or television. The card also features a stereo output jack as well as an
S/PDIF output connector for Dolby Digital audio output.>>
