Frank, Your analysis is very useful. The INTC preannouncement has caused an after hours trade at 15 so we might see your price range shortly. A weak opening is a certainty for tomorrow.

Hi Frank -- I find encouraging that, in the midst of turmoil today, Atmel is holding above its 52 week low of 15. Even if it drops below that, we'll see if it can hold above its third market low of 13+. In either case, I like your analysis of future shortages for Atmel's products, but I can't see management accepting a buyout at anywhere near these prices. Bear in mind that its all time high was 48+. Anyone who got in at those prices and is still in will scream if a buyout is proposed in the 'teens. Once pricing pressure is reduced and Atmel's startup costs in France are absorbed, earnings can turn around strongly and quickly and the stock price rebound sharply. $3 per share earnings would not be unreasonable, and neither would a stock price as you've indicated of 50.

If management knows what it's doing.
