Sheila, I agree that IBM's little drive is no immediate threat to Click! It even gives the Click! more legitimacy. Besides, there's
room for different capacity mini drives, just like there is room for ZIP and JAZ. I'm sure the decision makers at Iomega were well aware of this.

Sheila, hang in there and watch for mail.:)

Sheila - I suspect and hope that you're right about IBM's Vapor drive's threat to that of IOM. If Clik becomes a significant source of profit, it will be due to its appeal as a mass consumer product (the digital successor to the film cannister). I just don't see being able to download 300 digital photos to one disk (that costs what? - $100 or so) as being much of an advantage to downloading 30 shots to a Clik disk for $10. The technology is impressive, but I don't see its applicability - though I suspect Rocky can enlighten me.

Sheila, thanks for the response. The main point of my posting, although not stated as such, is that in the commodity business some other company is always coming out with a better product than the one you just announced. One of the keys to being successful in the commodity business is getting to the market first. However, the big guys like IBM and Sony can apply great pressures on a smaller company like IOM, even though they got to the market first. They can out spend IOM in all areas....product development, marketing, sales, etc.

Just my take on the situation.

Sheila, You didn't tell me you would be in NY. We were all over
Manhattan from Friday through Tuesday. Best thing in New York, the
exhibit at the Society of American Illustrators (128 63rd St East
I think). Every work was incredible, the original paintings for
prize winning illustrations for books/magazines in 1997. Found it
by accident on one of our long walks.

Did you go down to Wall Street? We were at the museum at Battery
Park and walked over. Saw Rocky there up on the bull. What a sight.
