Is the thread dead? I hope not . . this has been a great forum for SGI lore. Nowadays, I find more on the Yahoo SGI thread, but a lot of that stuff is downright silly. SGI has followed my prediction of boring sideways motion. However, I think that if Intel drops, the downdraft may suck some other computer stocks with it. ("Hey, drop computer stocks. They were just a FAD.")

This thread will get interesting again in a few weeks when we enter the pre-announcement season for earnings. My guess is that the earnings will be poor due to the dearth of new products, and that is currently factored into the stock. It will start inching up toward about 18/share if there is no preannouncement. After that, it will fly on the enthusiasm of new products, so the next few weeks may be the best time to buy. I thought it might slip back as low as $13 or so, but I'll probably pick up another 10% next month regardless.

Let the record show between the drop in Intel's earnings and Bill Gates testy testimony in congress -- today the first cracks begin to show in the WINTEL monopoly!

<<Did everyone get lost out in the desert with Mathon?>>

What? Mathon?? Lost in the desert??? -No way- Mr dd. THO I WISH I WAS!!! Just returned from an extended camel trading expedition and -BAMMO- 'twas not
a pretty sight...

Heavy duty "El Nino'"damage throughout Camp MD per last week's tech twisters. INTC & TXN big losers and a shocker to yours truly. Ouch... aggressive option plays with little hedging I'm all too ashamed to admit. -BUT- as they say in vincent's neon desert... "you makes your bets, you takes your chances".

Will need a couple of big hitters to regain these loses. No worries tho, Ringo is -always- fast at the switch... and OPEN for suggestions...

Right now we're taking a fresh look at SGI. Hmmmm, not so good move today but nothing to worry about. imho SGI -at support- here at 13+. So we're buying more "trading shares" 'cuz 15+ is a gimme and a welcome profit for us "wounded dogs".

btw: JD is quite rational with his DELL concerns. Everyone in the industy has to be quaking over these guys how they're selling NT servers like Mary Kay Ladies!!! Seriously, they got reps working out of their -HOMES- calling on Fortune 500 accounts. All business gets booked -direct- with DELL's Mother Ship in Texas via 4,000+ 1-800 phone lines -AND- one pretty sophisticated customer friendly web scheme which itself is now doing $4Million per day and growing!!!

Scary dd... but this is -exactly- what SGI and the rest of the NT hardware clan is facing down with DELL. How do you compete against these bloks??? THE SAME WAY I SAY!!! If SGI is reading this post, they better take a reeeeeal close look at DELL's distribution model -then copy it- to some great extent. This NT game is -lean & mean- and I hope our SGI tribe knows what they're dealing with.

On that note, we're also buying some DELL next time it gets cheap. Hopefully current CPQ drop will bring it down a few clicks.

'Bout it for now dd. You'll have to kindly pardon me, for back to my salvage operation I must go...... Ringo, has that State Farm bean counter showed-up yet?!!?

p.s.... Michael Dell. Now there's a guy who knows his camels!!!!
