Barry,

You're kidding???

If INTC drops 50% tomorrow, Grove, Barrett and Moore will still be driving their own cars to work and working in cubicles, while they still have all the cash they need to fund R&D and necessary capital expansion for a while.

If AMD drops 20% in sympathy and investors/lendors get nervous, it'll completely screw up their plans to raise cash for R&D and capital spending. Jerry may have to sell the company Rolls, fire the chauffeur and move out of his office suite just to make payroll.

In the long term, downturns always seem to be a good thing for INTC. They know how to cut costs to the bone and weather them with the cash they have in the bank. More than any company I have worked for, they let the problems energize them rather than incapacitate them. AMD doesn't seem to have the ethic which would drive them to that.
