>>As I posted here before, MPEG video is the standard for these devices. Video eats up plenty of storage. A 40MB Vapor! disc will only capture about 33 seconds of MPEG1 video.I believe Vapor!'s limited capacity has been just another reason why OEM's haven't exactly been beating down Iomega's door to buy it. Iomega's Vapor! also has a high initial cost of $200. This just to get started with 40MB. IBM's solution will be $200 for many times more storage space. The IBM's drive tiny form factor beats Iomega's Vapor! solution hands down. No OEM's are necessary, as these portable devices already come with a PC Card slot, and the IBM disc drive can slide right into it, leaving no bulky external unit or snaggy cable in the way.<<

Rocky -

Two things.

One, you have told us over and over that flash memory is the standard for portable devices. Currently, flash memory doesn't even get above the 40MB of Clik! Now you tell us that the low capacity of Clik! is the big problem. Something doesn't add up here.

Two, IBM's announcement says that they are talking to other companies trying to find OEMs for their drive. Why are they doing that if OEMs aren't necessary for it?
