At present we know that there are 2 or more archangels left.
Lucifer was created an angel of highest order.
But, he isn't that anymore. It's not a minimum of 3 now.
Arch angel intimates responsiblity per the hebrew and greek....NOT POWER.
There is nothing in scripture that says that Lucifer had responsiblity with the 1/3 angels that sided with him in the war.
The angels that Lucifer had responsibility for and the 1/3 that sided with him cannot be tied together with any scritpure support.
Actually I think that would not ring true since Lucifer had anointing in the music area and God was left with plenty of music<ggg>
Look at Lucifer and what he bara(hebrew) as.
In the Hebrew he was a walking instrument.

In scripture we learned that there was a minimum of 3 highest order angels and it was reduced to 2.
WE did not learn there were only 3. Sorry for being precise.
decades of study on this is why.
Also, there is no scripture to support that Micheal was in charge of 1/3 and Gabriel 1/3.
There is scripture to support that for one instance Micheal was in charge of angels in the war.
Micheal and just 3 more angels could fit that bill and it would only take Micheal and a couple of angels to defeat Lucifer and the other 1/3 and the battle could last all of a nanosecond.

All this angel stuff is great but you have named the most important thing.
God and His mercy is all that counts.

Bob,

I don't find in the scriptures that any angels were forced to follow along with lucifers plan. Every one of them had a free choice to either stay true to God or go along with his rebellion. Those who chose to side with lucifer failed in their attempts and were cast out of heaven. -Chris
