Re. Hard to believe that Intel affects international stock markets like this.

Why? Intel is a better proxy for US (or the world's economy) than any of the DOW dogs such as IBM, GE or GM.

Can you find a better proxy for world economic growth? Intel represents that in the same way that GM and BA represented it 30 years ago.
