No problems on passthroughs / setup on the Mac side. Agree with Goodpick that fundamentally VSNR is worth over $5. Right now all small caps are in the doldrums. A lot of people are concerned about NASDAQ's listing requirements which seems to be affecting the whole small cap sector, esp. fewer institutions. IMO this will pass, and the fundamentals will catch up to VSNR shortly. At least the strong will survive and I include VSNR here, i.e. the delisting cloud.

Maybe VSNR could outsource customer service ? A lot of companies are testing such methods now. It may be more expensive (at least a consistent expense) but the quality of service could be much better.???

Sincerely,
Ben

I tried using the Visioneer technical support email just to see what would happen. Actually I did have a real question. I asked what was the difference between the 3000 and 3100 flatbeds (it wasn't exactly clear from specifications on web site). I received a courteous, if not a slightly effusive, reply with all the info requested well within the promised 24 hours. This is a great improvement. Interestingly the one technical piece of information included was wrong (EPP is Enhanced Parallel Port, from the IEEE 1284 standard, not Enhanced Pass-through Protocol as mentioned here.)

Hi, Jimmy - Thank you for using Visioneer Online Technical Support. We appreciate an opportunity to assist you..

After reviewing your Technical Support Request, well answer your question, "PLEASE CLARIFY THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN 3000 AND 3100 SCANNER MODELS? and WHICH MODEL SHIPS WITH WEBSUITE?" Please save this solution for future reference.

The scanner hardware is, literally, identical although one opens lengthwise and the other opens like a book. The Model 3000 Visioneer ships as part of our Gateway hardware bundle, where the Visioneer 3100 is the model you will encounter if you order through our distributors or purchase the scanner in a retail store or directly from Visioneer.

Both models are designed only to interface with Windows (as opposed to MAC or NT), and each scans at 300x600 DPI.

Both communicate via Enhanced Pass-through Protocol (EPP) through your computers parallel port.

Both ship with Version 5.x PaperPort software. Version 5.x Deluxe, (along with a printable manual) resides on the same CD.

The Deluxe version may be unlocked with an UNLOCKING CODE, obtainable for $79.95 from our Customer Service and Sales Department at (800) 787-7007.

THE VISIONEER WEB SUITE The Visioneer Web Suite (formerly called ISK - "Internet Solution Kit") is Web publishing made easy.

Build your web site the way you want it with our new Internet Solution Kit. Drag and drop a document from your PaperPort Desktop to the Internet Publisher Link and quickly convert that document to HTML document.

The PaperPort document is converted to either Max, JPG, or GIF format, then placed on the web site of your choice via LAN, ISP, or FTP connection.

A hypertext link for the new page is automatically generated based on the name of your PaperPort document on a host page of your choice.

Internet Publisher Kit is a stand-alone product, unless offered as part of a licensed hardware/software bundle as a promotion.

It can be purchased through our Software and Accessories Ordering at 1-800-358-3298, our at our Website.
