Teligent was given 4 times the amount of bandwidth at 24ghz when they were forced to move from 18ghz in order to compensate for increased rain fade at the smaller wave length, something to do with Teledisc I believe.

Anyway wouldn't the rain fade be even worse at 38ghz given the even smaller wavelength?

How many more times the bandwidth at 38ghz does Winstar need to equal the bandwidth Teligent has at 24ghz?

We aren't talking about an apples for apples comparison here.

Steve,
I've been mulling over your notes. Looks like TGNT has about 74 markets and WCII has 120+ markets. Presumably they will be going head to head in several of these markets -- any idea of how many, especially in the early years, and whether one has an advantage over the other in these situations?
Also, what is the fundamental advantage of this technology over a simple fiber pipe to the backbone? If I were a business contemplating ways of reducing my operating costs in this area, what does that picture look like?
