richard,

<< Do you really think that any of these NEW players will be able to offer the same or even better products then WSTL at lower rates? No way. >>

If you mean at the lower price, then yes I really do.

1. US West is planning to proceed with NetSpeed ADSL instead of PAIR products based on the price.

2. Rockwell is building the Consumers ADSL silicon and they own the significant share of the 56Kbps modem chips. If ADSL suddenly takes off they have a lot to loose.

3 PAIRGAIN committed 3 years to the development of Falcon chipset (dedicated ADSL chip as opposed to the TXN's DSP approach) they have a lot to loose, if their HDSL buz is replaced with ADSL.

4.WSTL still does not have DMT modem and to compare their CAP products with ALA's makes no sense. You have to compare DMT to DMT.

<< As for the ALA's and PAIR's, it's the same competition as always and WSTL has BA, GTE and BT locked up. >>

Could you explain what do you mean by being locked up ? Have you seen the contracts ? Did BA, GTE and BT commited to any numbers of modems they are going to buy from WSTL?
