enigma,

Glad you enjoy the song ... I do believe the holding company is domiciled in the Caymans so I'm not sure tax is a consideration.

As for Arequipa, Barrick made a time dependant offer to them at a time when little drilling had occured on the property, but indications were that it was a sizable deposit ... as a result AQP commenced an excelerated program to determine exactly what they had at Pierina. Additionally discussions were taking place with other majors.

I won't go into the share price activity over its last two or three months, but perhaps KRY is providing a good example of what happened as volitility became the order of the day with swings from $34.00 to $10.50 occuring in a matter of weeks as rumours abounded.

Arequipa also had large discrepancies between initial drill assay results and what was actually found later to sizably increase ... it was another major who indicated this discrepancy to AQP management shortly before Barrick's offer although I believe Barrick too had received the same data.

Perhaps these final AQP press releases will provide some further information on the Arequipa/Barrick Pierina deal, assay discrepancies etc.
