Why is Datek so often unable to fill 9:30 - 10:00am? Do the MMs just trade around Datek? Are the opening orders managed via phone calls and good ole boy network? Does volume swamp the system. Does the Nasd link discriminate against ECNs? Is the Watcher system given preference? Is there a government conspiracy to tatoo us all with barcodes? ;-)

Just looking for a working understanding of why orders entered at 9:33, marketable for minutes at a time, are not executed by 10am. Other times during the day, anything marketable - and often some not marketable, are executed before I can write down the conf#. So what is the deal between 9:30-10? I'd gladly trade mutual funds, options-smoptions, pretty screens and maybe even LevelII for reliable access between 9:30 and 10:00. What is going on?

I placed a limit order to buy 1000 shares of COMS @ 35 1/8. I got a partial execution for ONE SHARE. Is this some kind of a joke?

This is wonderful, paying a $ 10 commission on a $ 35 trade!@!!$@#
