it is illegal to intentionally create a rumor in order to manipulate the price of a stock.

But really folks, caveat emptor and police yourselves. Everyone must use a large dose of skepticism before believing anything you read anywhere, or become lambs at the slaughter. I shorted SEEK as soon as the "rumour" began to circulate and have already profited.

Be smart; and be wary of news that sounds too good to be true.
