in that same thought....amateurs are supposed to start the week and pros finish. Last Fri was strong also. Plus the fact that floor traders are trained to fade wide-eyed optimism. We have short covering, strong retail buying, and fund buying.

Lisa,

I go back to my analysis of month end buying. I have done that analysis for the all of last year and part of 96. What I discovered was that the month end buying trend covers a period of 4-6 days and starts on the last 2 trading days of the month and continues with the first 3-5 days of the following month. It worked every month except for last March.

This does not mean that everyday of this period is up, just that it will end up higher than when the buying interim started.

In some cases, it started before the last 2 days of the month. Also after this period is over, the market normally flattens out or dips, and if it did increase it did not increase with alot of strenght.

I was using the DOW.
