Bill,

I want to buy a PC now. I can buy from Dell or CPQ, of course. You are suggesting that I would buy from Dell even Dell's price is higher. Or you are suggesting the business would go ahead buying the more expensive PC from Dell for the same model as CPQ's, if Dell would not response the price cut from CPQ at all.

Don't own any DELL..wish I did right now considering a I own a ton of CPQ. Nevertheless, it seems obvious to me that DELL will eventually be effected by the tech slowdown. Maybe not this month or next, but eventually DELL has to feel the squeeze. This just makes common sense if you look at it objectively and try to forget that DELL at this moment looks invinceble. North American sales are slowing...sooner or later DELL sales will be effected as well.

Also saying that the coming pc price war will not in some way effect DELL is ridiculus.

Is the confidence that Dell exudes due to a market-space transition, not just an effective business model?

Is Dell strategically positioning a pronged approach which leverages current business, while directly attacking the high-end (eg., clustered server) corporate market? Consider the direct, swift response from Michael D on servers; recent patents which are geared toward multi-node, high-availability equipment; Intel innovations which are directly targeted toward "big-iron" displacement; the prize.

If so, can this be done seamlessly (without an earnings hiccup)?
