Jess, there's a deal between U.S. and China. China promised not to devalue the Yuan, in return the United States will (1) help China get admitted into the World Trade Organization, and (2) pressure Japan to open up its domestic market (China stands to gain because 25% of exports are to Japan). China is ready to absorb short term pain, but definitely will not devalue the Yuan.

Regards,

Tom

Jess,

I was referred here because I made a post to the Deswell thread that was contradictory to a post you made on events in Asia. After reading back thru your posts, I find that I agree with the things you are saying about the rest of Asia - that the extent of the crisis is just beginning. Only HK, China, with possibly Taiwan and Singapore being somewhat stable.

Basically I have stated that certain HK/China companies are excellent opportunities for investment, Deswell in particular.

As you seem to be knowledgable about the situation there, would you please comment on my post?
