If Intel announces and 170MM shares are traded because of "weaker than expected orders" - didn't that just tell the markets that Compaq, Dell, and all of the Manufacturers are going to be off their expected orders? Now, as each manufacturer announces, he will get another whammy!

Well, networking did well because the Intel sellers had to do something with all that money.
