Ken: Re: "I am bothered by the fact that he keeps saying "I have nothing to sell". Compared with brokers and bankers and insurance agents who push loaded mutual funds without disclosing the load - damn straight. But, c'mon. In some ways, Money Talk is a 6 hr commercial for Marketimer. (Much more so nowadays than in the "old days".) Bob has reached critical mass (many times over, I'd think) due in part, at least, to his radio show. But I don't begrudge him one bit for it - I just wish he would stop saying he has nothing to sell. (Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've heard him say that anytime recently ....)" Bob makes an excellent effort to make sure he does not talk about MarketTimer on the show unless someone asks. In response to such questions, he never pushes the newsletter. Listen. Every commercial he runs starts out with something like -- "this is a paid commercial." Very important. He is paying for this time. I will even go on to say that there is the possibility that Bob is funding unsold commercial time with his own money for a number of reasons. I would not put it past him to do this. So in this way or any other way for that matter, MarketTimer subscribers are funding the radio program. No matter how you look at it, without the subscribers, MoneyTalk would have less of a chance of making it on the air as a profitable enterprise for Mickey (ABC) without those paid MarketTimer commercials. So all the listeners here on this thread better thank the subscribers every day because without them there might be no MoneyTalk. Maybe there is some truth to the freeloader listener comments <g>. BTW, when he made his appearance in Rochester Bob Brinker never tried to sell MarketTimer once. He does not need the money. In fact, all the proceeds of that paid event went to charity. Doesn't sound like the actions of a criminal to me <g>.
