The thing about refining oil is your have to cook the stuff, and we have not come up with many methods, after many decades of oil research, that do what gas to liquids does.
Only one of these processes, after all these years, uses iron as a catalyst. Will we soon see a third catalyst work beside cobalt or iron? The past indicates we have two choices after 70 years. The next discovery may come in 17 or 35 years. Perhaps sooner. Rentech may be the one to bring it to market.
The time is ripe for an advance in the technology of refining. There are more engines to feed.

Good luck to all.

Jonathan did have one good point.

He said:

It has a history of doing this, and everytime..it falls back down.

That is true. It did so in October and December. But, I believe things are different now. There have been so many clues recently to indicate that the Texaco deal is either done or soon to be done. I would not want to risk missing the big leap forward to maybe miss a half point down.

We should also remember to be patient. If nothing happens this week, don't panic. These things take time.

<<Why did I sell? RNTK jumped 1/2 for no reason. >>,

Is that true there are no reasons ??

I have my own opinion,

The only reason the price jumped up is because there were more people bought this Stock than Sold it (Support VS Demand), why are there more people buying this stock ?, they bought this stock in anticipation for JV deal with TX. So what's wrong with that ?

Are there any good reason for that anticipation ? (do you think there are so many fool people ?)

Here are some good reasons :

1.On October 1, 1997 this Co. released this announcement
Rentech, Inc. and Texaco Group Inc. Agree To Continued Negotiations
gastoliquids.com

2. On December 10 - 12, 1997, (BLOOMBERG CONFERENCE REMOTE GAS STRATEGIES CONFERENCE) around that date the price jumped up
still with the anticipation that the JV deal with TX would be announced and we all know it didn't happen at that time.

And now with the same anticipation followed by more good signs and some big events that the Co. has attended (March 4 - 5,1998 AIC CONFERENCE PTE LTD) and will Attend in this near time frame (March'29-April'7 '98), the price is moving up again, so what is wrong with that ?, This is a normal market characteristic (more demand than support).

Some good signs. Check out this :

1.Washington Post "Global Warming Gets a 2nd Look ...", March 4'1998

"The comments at Davos weren't really about the Kyoto proposal and its merits," Gidez said. "It was more about being competitive into the next century" and using Texaco's technological and other strengths. For instance, he said, Texaco has technology that can convert natural gas into a clean-burning, highly efficient diese fuel that would help reduce the amount of natural gas that is flared at the top of smokestacks, which contributes to the buildup of greenhouse gases"

2. Almost 13 months ago, Phil Hunt, a director of Chem Systems Ltd. of London, reported in the ''Oil and Gas Journal'' on December 9, 1996 that by the year 2000 there will be a potential world surplus of approximately 25 million tons per year of high sulphur fuel oil due to its high sulphur content. If this surplus could be converted by a
GTL process such as Rentech's, into clean liquid hydrocarbons ,it would equate to approximately 50 million barrels per year in useable sulphur-free diesel fuel.

4. Last paragraph, latest news release:
Click NEWS on Texaco (TX) and check out the last paragraph on the
Friday, March 6 heading: "Oil Majors head Offshore Columbia in Search of Gas"
"The government has pledged to extend the nationwide gas distribution network.Texaco, meanwhile, is mulling the application of ''gas to liquid'' technology which would enable surplus gas to be converted for use as high-grade diesel fuel or motor oils. "

on December we didn't get the reward so let we all just hope this time our dream is coming true !

To All, still do your own DD, because the money is still yours !

Good Luck !

PS : i read the only reason that you sold this stock is sell high and buy it again at a lower price so you could get more share and you still have a chance for a big party, (you are selfish ??) it's ok for me to do that if you don't make others get hurt their feelings i.e. by posted your negative opinion (silent may be better). BTW i got my last RNTK at $ 1 5/32.
