I'm a new reader of this thread(first time today) as I have an interest in this technology as the result of the cover story in Business Week on 2/23/98. Maybe this article has been addressed, but could someone explain the following as they relate to FONX:
1. IN BW's 11 page article I couldn't find any reference to FONX by name.
2. The only reference to General Magic is what I would label as being negative.
3. As MSFT's name is mentioned prominently on the thread, could some one explain how the following comment in the BW's article doesn't apply to FONX: Nathan Myhrvold, MSFT chief technology officer, argues, that speech technology, across the board, isn't ready for prime time. The products now on the market, he says, are just not good enough yet.
4. The BW article goes on to say that Dragon Systems has won rave reviews from reviewers for their Naturally Speaking system. Again no mention of FONIX.

If these issues have been addressed earlier, I apologize, but before I invest in a stock I like to get as much information, without the hype.

I believe what I wrote was that Fonix was now in the door of Microsoft as in getting their foot in the door. There would be much more implied if I wrote the MSFT was beating Fonix's door down. All I'm saying is that IF Fonix has exceptional tech, then MSFT will be in a position to take notice. I don't believe what I wrote was hype. I hate hype as much as the next guy.

You can't dispute the fact that MSFT invested millions in a company that uses Fonix tech exclusively for text to speech.

Have a good weekend.

Brian we agree that Microsoft is more than just intrested in V.R. Technology.Let me tell you where your business sense is lacking.Brians quote last post " it is clear that microsoft is not beating on the door of or making fast tracks to fonix. If they have, please post some links from Business Week ,Fortune,Forbes,CNN etc...." How do you know who Fonix is talking to ? Is this your guess? Now Brian how about if you post some links to Business Week ,Fortune,CNN etc.. about the Microsoft & General Magic agreement before that deal was done. Or how about if you post the Business Week,Fortune,Cnn,CNBC quotes on the Siemens -Microsoft deal they made for windows CE before that deal was made.We all know that the first thing Microsoft does is have an interview with a reporter about their deals in the works- weeks and months before they are made. You and JH go to the same schools ? Because on the other thread I had to slowly step by step read the Siemens / Fonix contract to him,and explain it to him.He thought Fonix only got 2,400,000 DM up front.I hope you don't think that also. Now I'm going to go very slowly step by step for you on this next part and if JH is there with you, please go flag down a car, preferably one whos driver has a business brain, and drag he or she into your abode to oversee. You state : " some of your recent posts regarding links between MSFT and Fonix in my opinion are unfounded " .Please print these directions to make it easy for you. STEP 1. Go to the website www.genmagic.com now go to their home page.STEP 2. You see the little green button on the left that says partners ? Press it.Do you see in BIG BOLD PRINT ACUVOICE ? Read the first two paragraphs. "AcuVoice the leader in text to speech" and "Acuvoice gives Serengeti a text to speech second to none " STEP 3.Go back to the home page.STEP 4 Press the big square in the middle with the cute little rabbit at Get The Story .STEP 5 This is where it gets real good Brian - skip to the part where Nathan Myhrvold Chief Technology Microsoft is boasting about Serengeti and General Magic "We are pleased to see General Magic's INTEGRATION of Serengeti with Microsofts applications such as Outlook and Internet Explorer" Isn't that your buddy Nathan ( refer to your SI post under A )Here is another quote from Nathan "General Magic continues to develop innovative technologies and applications " Gee did he forget to tell you Brian over dinner ? Refer to PARTNERS General Magic/AcuVoice ( a division of FONIX ! ) or ask the driver to help you ,if you tell me where you live I will send up a flare for you to enlighten you on business.Tell us some more Brian about Microsofts Lieutenants and what your man Nathan Myringold thinks about the Acuvoice/fonix/General Magic Technology. I just gave you direct quotes as of a couple of days ago from Nathan your man from Microsoft. What did you give? Talk trash like JH ? Your opinion ? LOL ! The link to not only Bill Gates doorway but through the doorway and into the distribution area ( Serengeti is coming out in a couple of months)for AcuVoice/Fonix Technology -integrated into Microsofts Outlook and Internet Explorer is right in front of your FACE ! But don't worry Brian in a couple of months you can see and hear it two inches from your nose if need be. Gary Strong
