Compaq can not buy back any shares during the DEC merger and for several months after the merger is complete. This issue was visited during the Tandem merger.

Based on what I learned about the Tandem merger, I would expect that Compaq will not be able to have a stock buyback program until about six months or eight months after the DEC merger is complete. So we are looking at this time next year before any other stock buyback program can be initiated.
