secze........I agree, Pfeiffer's comments sound like double talk...One thing for sure Something's down at CPQ.....but that doesn't mean at HWP, IBM, GTW.....OR...DELL.......I hope other companies say something to soothe a few nerves......That's what I'm coming to really like about Michael Dell....He seems to care about the company shareholders.....I think more than any other company I have ever owned.........George

It's actually pretty clear, IMHO, what he means below. He's merely talking about the worldwide demand for the consumer business. The first part of his statement unintentionally limits the scope of the "good growth" in the consumer market to north America. Then he simply expands the scope of his "good growth" in consumer business to include the world. It was meant to emphasize that the problem is in corporate demand. Which, BTW, if true, I don't see how that can't hit DELL, since I thought that 90% of their demand was corporate.

"We see good growth in our consumer business in North America and really in ALL markets around the world..." WHAT THE HECK IS THIS!!! This guy doesn't have a clue what he is saying. What does ALL Markets mean???

Growth means unit sales growth. He is mixing unit growth with sales growth to obfuscate.
