BTO boxes ordered over the phone are fine for some folks, but the overwhelming majority of pc buyers feel better about meeting a flesh and blood real person who will come out to their house and set up their system and return if neccessary for followup tech support...the local computer store provides the kind of personal service that first time buyers want...I'm not knocking Dell now...The sophisticated computer literate consumer who is looking to buy his second or third computer may well choose Dell...But, there's an awful lot of personal styles out there that have to be catered to and therein lies the key to niche marketing...
