Hi Penny, I think it is best to look at this with some 'Will Rogers' simplicity and clarity. Because the first and foremost priority of SI is the actual stock threads, it would not surprise me to find that complaints pertaining to 'coffee shop' threads are not as deeply investigated, thus some erroneous judgements likely occur. And rightly so.

I've conversed with Jill off and on over the past year and I suspect she has plenty on her plate dealing with copyright issues (people posting full articles), and stock thread disputes. When you step back to take in a larger view, a problem on a 'Boink'-style thread should really be disposed of quickly; get it out of the 'IN' box so more important matters could receive appropriate attention. Unfortunately, of course, this has stepped on one who is dear to us.

My original suggestion which you and others support would take a lot of pressure away from Jill's job. More of her time could be spent resolving real issues rather than dealing with 'crybaby' stuff from a thread that really doesn't have much to do with SI's original purpose anyway. The world is still going to have whiners, but with my proposed method, Jill can narrow her responses to either, &#147Hey, it's a 'coffee shop' thread so if you have a problem, don't go there anymore,&#148 or &#147A problem on Intel? Okay, we'll look into it.&#148

I'm not sure a formal proclamation on our part is necessary. Let's just say &#147Hey Jill, we support this idea, and by coincidence it would make your work day a lot easier.&#148

Extra Bonus: It may even teach supposed adults to be responsible for themselves rather than becoming Crybaby Goofball Butterheads.
