<off topic> Joe, forgive me for saying this, but I believe that you are overcomplicating the issue to the extent that I am not sure that I understand the question. I think that you are concerned with the mechanics of trading the options and that concern will evaporate once you've completed a trade. Your understanding of the pricing and volatility of options is very good, specially concidering your experience in options. I would suggest that you go to the option threads here on SI, there is one for beginners. I would also like to suggest that you pick an option and hypothetically buy it. Let's track this imagenary buy on the Amigo thread and see if that helps to answer your questions. Sergio
