John,
asnd seems to trade in a world of its own, after the intc announcement asnd held up real well. I expect the same this week, asnd is a real bargain here no matter what happens to the NAZ.

Based on Gary Korn's post of this qtr being more backloaded than expected, this concerns me. Clearly ASND has taken the first step to lower expectations for the quarter. Hopefully they're just being cautious and will still prevail. However, this is starting to feel just a little bit similar to last summer when that quarter was supposed to also be a bit "backloaded". -John Dodson

Hi John,

I share your concerns and think that we should all be cautious the next few weeks.

However, I think Asnd's earning/revenue visibility at this point is materially different from last summer, before/during the 8K filing. At that time, Asnd/Cscc merger was on the front burner, Tnt software/and 56K standard problems was yet to be resolved. Most importantly, CSCC/ATM products was not a major factor in revenue contributions.

Just some of my thoughts.

Jan

John,

I'm not too concerned about ASND (as opposed to the market in general). That is for two reasons:

1. IR explicitly stated on 3/6 that the .25/share 1Q target was on track.

2. I believe that any backloading this quarter is due to the fact that a couple of killer products, GX550 and CBX500 are only just beginning to ship (to the best of my understanding). It is evident from many press releases of late that the demand for these products is strong. Now that 2Q98 is almost here, they should be shipping in earnest. I think that bodes very well for 2Q98 and 2H98. That being the case, it looks like Ashby's projection of high-single digit growth in 2Q and double-digit revenue growth in 3Q and 4Q are achieveable.
