I've seen it all now (NOT!):

A. CPQ to be bought out by dell -- yeah right.
B. 'Jeez, I'm gonna buy CPQ but will likely get hit with a margin call.'

For all you shorts, (and I know who you are on this thread, even I can figure it out heheh) the time to cover will be this week, or begin to feel the pain.

Interesting that the CPQ acquisition of DEC occurs during the time of year when the seasonality factor strikes (ie both CPQ and DEC prices have deflated quite a bit over the past 6 sessions).

Come on folks. One quarter does not a company make. CPQ is a $100 stock in the next year, and will split in 1999. DEC was an absolutely horrible company that was starting on its own to recover over the last year. Why did CPQ do the DEC dance -- it has to do with business going forward and taking advantage of opportunities. How many times have we seen sell offs due to the 'lack of PC demand' mantra. This is getting to the point of being ludicrous.

Since (IMO) the stock is oversold, I rate CPQ a strong buy as of today, with a price target of $40 some time before the year end.

You may see CPQ this week at low 20s for a couple of hours, but that will be the end of it.

To all of us despondent CPQ shareholders, here is some good news.

Joe:

Here is a DEC shareholder arguing that CPQ is robbing DEC blind. So if this is true and if the deal goes through it may be worth something after all, current predicament notwithstanding.
