In 1987 the advisers that were bearish was 12%.

dpl, which survey are you quoting? Barron's publishes four different surveys every week. Consensus,Inc's survey shows 77% bullish opinion while AAII shows only 13% bears.

On a new topic, a cynical thought occurred to me when I saw a Fidelity ad for Roth IRAs. Financial planners and mutual fund companies are running around helping people convert regular IRA funds to Roth IRAs, resulting in current taxation of all the funds converted so that the holder can avoid paying income taxes when they take the money out.

Great idea, right? Maybe not.

Big windfall for politicos trying to show a surplus, definitely. But for us IRA holders, what if we finally get what many of us have been wishing for - a consumption tax?

Pay now to save later or pay now, pay again later? Are we being scammed?

Just a thought. Comments?
