To everyone, off topic (or at least off current discussion)

St. Patrick's Day is coming up, a disturbing holiday for me. It always reminds me of the troubles in Northern Ireland, as I'm sure it does for a lot of others.

I get so frustrated at both sides in that conflict. They are both part of God's church, worshipping God, asking for salvation through Jesus and so forth. Yet while the only differences between them are relatively minor differences in doctrine, and they have so much more in common, they are nonetheless at each others' throats. It boggles the imagination.

If it were just the Irish involved, one would sadly shake one's head, comment on human foolishness, and walk away. However, the world watches this long, drawn out conflict. They see Christians killing each other. They get a negative image of Christianity, which makes them less receptive to it. Hence, fewer people saved because some Christians can't keep from getting overwrought about unimportant doctrinal differences.

So this St. Patrick's Day I intend to pray fervently that those Irish Christians will finally see that their fighting does more to serve the adversary than anything which could happen as a result of the "wrong" beliefs of the other side.

As I said, completely off topic.

In Christ Jesus/Yeshua, Ken.

Bob, in all due respect, I don't think ANYONE should even venture to touch that Ark.
What about God's Holiness? Awesomeness? That Ark was soooo important two men lost their lives because they tried to keep it from falling off of a cart being drawn by donkeys.
Glibness, familiarity, calling God "the old Man", etc. is IMHO a very fearful thing to contemplate and do. Of course, I am not saying you fit this category, but even "touching" the Ark would be beyond the pale of my imagination.

God is Holy.
Holy Spirit is Holy.
Jesus is Holy.
The Word is Holy.
The Ark is Holy.
The Americanos have cheapened the awesomeness of this Holy God.

We go to Church, and strike up a conversation with those around us...buzz buzz buzz the many conversations make the sanctuary sound like the bleachers of a ballgame...it is very difficult to concentrate on God...the setting is very irreverent...we drink coffee now in the Sanctuary...preachers preach in casual attire...we sing ditty chorus', throwing out stately hymns...we are so familiar with God, we are buddy buddy...we allow laity to pass out the communion...etc.

In Hebrews we read: "Without holiness, no man will see the Lord..."

GOD IS HOLY!

B.
