<<Is losing this a big deal for Intel?

Better yet, is WINNING this business a big deal for the winner?>>

Not a money spinner at $10/chip - prove it! (just kidding)

I see in your recent posts about Compaq: "they effectively dropped THEIR ENTIRE LINE OF PCS - Corporate and Retail - deeply downwards. Instead of having two discrete strata - sub $1000 PCs and >$2500 PCs, they found that they created a market where EVERY PC was headed to the $1000 range."

Does this represent your adoption of the notion of sub $1000 related impact on intel?
